Registration and Permits
- Motorboats (including electric) must display a current boat registration from any state.

Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission regulations and laws apply.

Launching and Mooring
DCNR's park map shows a boat launch with mooring and a separate hand-carry launch for kayaks and canoes at the Laurel Lake Day Use Area. The lake has 85 mooring spaces; ask the park office about mooring permits (717-486-7174).
Boat Rental
A boat rental operates at Laurel Lake. DCNR does not publish the operator's hours, prices or boat types, so check at the lake or with the park office before you count on a rental, especially outside summer.
Paddling Tips
- Laurel Lake has wetlands along its shore and upper channels; DCNR says beavers may be seen there at twilight in fall, and waterfowl such as mergansers and loons use the lake.
- Keep clear of the swimming area at Laurel Beach.
- In winter the lake hosts ice skating and ice fishing instead (Winter).
